PMY & PENINSULA VALDES

What's included in this package

Day 01 / ARRIVAL IN PUERTO MADRYN

Morning arrival at Trelew Airport. Meet and transfer to the selected hotel for 1 night accommodation with buffet breakfast

In the afternoon, Our 4×4 trucks will pick you up from your hotel and take you to Cerro Avanzado. Throughout the tour we drive on trails, sand dunes and cliffs. Along the way we visit Punta Loma, a rookery of Southern Sea lions (Otaria flavescens), and we analyse reef areas and marine fossils, which are part of the invaluable local paleontological heritage.

Day 02 / SOUTH PENINSULA VALDES

After breakfast, we depart in the morning for the Protected Area Peninsula Valdés appointed World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1999.

One hour later we arrive in the charming environment-friendly village Puerto Pirámides for a regular boat tour (optional) to see Southern Right whales from June to December, and Southern sea lions and cormorants from January to March.

Lunch (not included) will be scheduled in Puerto Piramides.

After lunch, we continue our trip to the south of the peninsula. The ride takes us through wide plains, past two big salt lakes -Salina Grande and Salina Chica-, and past Punta Delgada – the southern tip of the peninsula-, before we get to Punta Cantor to appreciate the beauty of the Atlantic coastline and the geological formation known as Caleta Valdés, a stunning ocean inlet.

According to the time of year, these beaches host Southern elephant seals, the largest seals on the planet.

On our way back to Puerto Madryn, we make a stop at the Visitor Center Carlos Ameghino, a compendium of the natural wealth of the peninsula.

Along the journey we have good chances of spotting local wildlife such as guanacos, rheas, foxes, cavies, armadillos and skunks

Day 03 / NORTH PENINSULA VALDES

After breakfast, we depart to Punta Cantor to observe the peninsula’s Atlantic coastline, and we reach the initial stretch of the Valdes Inlet (Caleta Valdes) for the observation and interpretation of the coastal geology

Then, we drive on to Estancia San Lorenzo, a traditional sheep farm, where apart from the possibility to have a spectacular lamb barbecue for lunch , we visit a stunning Magellanic penguin colony located 7 km/4,35 miles from the main house.

After that, we visit the Wildlife Reserve Punta Norte, where we can view Sea lions and eventually orcas as from December. On the way back, we make a stop at the Visitor Centre situated at the Isthmus Carlos Ameghino.

Along the way we have good chance of viewing animals such as guanacos, rheas, foxes, cavies, armadillos and skunks, among others.

Day 04 / PUERTO MADRYN

After breakfast, visit to the area known as El Doradillo

It is the place chosen by many Southern right whale cows and their calves. Due to the calm waters and the unusual depth of the steep beach, the whales can approach the coast considerably, thus allowing whale watching from land. There is a good possibility that the whales will be as close as 15 to 20 metres/50 to 70 feet off the beach. The excursion is scheduled around the high tide, because of the higher probability to see the whales close by.

After that, transfer out by private vehicle and english guide to Trelew airport
